Former champions Korea DPR and Japan will play an all-Asian final at the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Bogota, Colombia on Sunday.
Choe Il-son scored the only goal of the semi-final versus the USA to ensure Korea’s passage to Sunday’s final, while Manaka Matsukubo’s second half brace against the Netherlands in Cali was enough to secure a 2-0 win for Japanese team to progress to the final.
Choe Il-son is now joint top in the adidas Golden Boot race.
It would be an enthralling final between two teams that have proven Asia remains a football powerhouse in the women’s game.
Sunday’s final will also serve as a rematch of the 2024 AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup final last March, which Korea DPR won 2-1.
Meanwhile, USA will battle the Netherlands in the Third-Place Play-off on Saturday.
