Africa Interviews Announces List of Speakers for Inaugural Sustainability Forum in Lagos

One of Africa’s leading online media platforms, with a unique editorial focus on positive narratives about people, places and events on the continent, Africa Interviews, has announced a lineup of distinguished guest speakers for the highly anticipated maiden edition of the Africa Interviews Sustainability Forum with the theme “Leading Sustainability in Africa: Empowering Nigeria’s Green Future.”

According to the organisers, the maiden edition promises to be a gathering of thought leaders, industry experts, and key stakeholders dedicated to driving sustainability and energy transition in Africa.

Guest speakers at the innovative dialogue for Africa’s development billed to hold at 10 am on Wednesday, June 5, at the Federal Palace Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos, include Deoye Ojuroye, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Providus Bank; Oladapo Filani, CEO, Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited; Ejiro Gray, Director, Governance & Sustainability, Sahara Group; Lamé Verre, Co-Founder & Co-Chair, Lean In Equity and Sustainability; and Chioma Afe, Director External Affairs & Social Performance, Seplat Energy.

The local and international experiences of the diverse range of speakers are expected to enrich the conversations around sustainability in Africa, vis-à-vis energy transition among other issues.

Deoye Ojuroye

Deoye Ojuroye, Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer, Providus Bank. Deoye is an ICAN and ACCA-qualified finance professional with a B.Sc. Honours degree in Computer Science from the University of Lagos and an Executive MBA from the Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. With extensive experience in the financial sector, Deoye leads the Finance, Strategy, Business Development, Technology, and e-Business Groups at Providus Bank. His insights into financial technology ecosystems, and how banks can integrate sustainability into their operations and investment strategies will be invaluable to the forum’s discussions.

Lamé Verre

Lamé Verre, Co-Founder & Co-Chair, Lean In Equity and Sustainability, Lamé is an accomplished finance and commercial professional with nearly 20 years of experience across the oil and gas value chain. Holding advanced degrees from Imperial College, London Business School, and Eni Corporate University, her expertise spans strategy, innovation, and sustainability. Lamé’s commitment to equity and sustainability will bring a unique perspective to the forum.

Oladapo Filani

Oladapo Filani, CEO, Waltersmith Petroman Oil Limited. Oladapo is a seasoned petroleum engineer with over two decades of experience in the energy sector. An alumnus of the London Business School and Robert Gordon University, his roles have spanned strategy, operations, and asset development management. Oladapo’s leadership and technical expertise will contribute significantly to discussions on efficient and innovative energy solutions.

Ejiro Gray

Ejiro Gray, Director – Governance & Sustainability, Sahara Group. Ejiro is a governance and sustainability professional with a law background from the University of Ibadan and the Nigerian Law School. As Sahara Group’s Director, she drives the corporate sustainability strategy and energy transition roadmap. Ejiro’s advocacy for a just and inclusive energy transition will be a highlight of the forum, focusing on balancing climate goals with development needs in Africa.

Chioma Afe

Chioma Afe, Director External Affairs & Social Performance, Seplat Energy:  An accomplished strategic Senior Communications Executive and Business Leader, Chioma holds an MBA from Imperial College Business School and has over 24 years of experience across telecommunications, FMCG, and financial services. In her present role as Director External affairs and Social Performance for Seplat Energy, where she is responsible for the strategic global positive reputation of the Seplat Brand, as well as overall external relations and managing the corporate social performance strategies and initiatives. Chioma’s insights will be crucial in discussing the role of communications in driving sustainability initiatives.
