Afrobeats: Wizkid’s ‘Piece of My Heart’ sets new Spotify Streaming Record

The recently released song by Afrobeats global star and Grammy Award winner, Wizkid, “Piece Of My Heart”, has set a new record for the most first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria.

Wizkid’s single which featured US artiste Brent Faiyaz, and was released on October 19, 2024, recorded 1.01 million streams in its first day of release on Spotify Nigeria.

It also sets a new record for the biggest first-day streams by any song in Spotify Nigeria— surpassing the previous record he shared with Asake on their collaboration ‘MMS’ off the latter’s third album ‘Lungu Boy.’

Wizkid also becomes the artiste with the top 3 songs with the highest opening day streams on Spotify Nigeria with ‘IDK’ his collaboration with Zlatan now in the third spot.

‘Piece of My Heart’ is the lead single from Wizkid’s much anticipated sixth studio album, ‘Morayo’, which is expected to be released on November 22, 2024.

In a recent music poll that features artists in various genres of music, fans voted ‘Piece of My Heart’ in a poll published Friday (October 18) on Billboard as their favourite new music release of the past week.

“The slinky love jam doesn’t shy away from old-school R&B pleasures and allows the Nigerian superstar to showcase his nimble flow,” noted Billboard on October 20.
