CAF Champions League: Defending Champions Al Ahly, Mamelodi Sundowns Reach Semis

Defending champions Al Ahly of Egypt, Esperance Sportive de Tunis, South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and TP Mazembe of DR Congo have all advanced to this year’s CAF Champions League semi finals.

In the quarter-final fixtures played this weekend, Al Ahly defeated Simba SC in Cairo to secure their place in the semis, while four-time winners Esperance made it past Cote d’Ivoire’s Asec Mimosas.

Similarly, reigning African Football League champions and 2025/16 winners Mamelodi Sundowns eventually triumphed over Tanzania’s Young Africans in South Africa.

Five-time winners TP Mazembe of DR Congo produced a scintillating display with a 2-1 away win over Atletico Petroleos of Luanda after the first leg had ended goalless.

In the first semi-final, Al Ahly will play TP Mazembe in what promises to be a fascinating match, while Esperance will play Mamelodi Sundowns in the second semi-final.

The semis will be played on home and away basis between April 19 and 27.
